Chelsea survived a spirited but futile Arsenal fightback in the second half at Stamford Bridge as they clung on for a 2-1 win in the Premier League. Arsene Wenger’s side were unspeakably dismal in the first half as Chelsea opened up a two-goal lead inside 16 minutes thanks to a lovely control and finish from Juan Mata and a penalty from Frank Lampard that put the Chelsea captain within seven of the club’s all-time scoring record. However, the complexion of the match changed completely at half-time, a rejuvenated Arsenal pulling one back on 58 minutes when the freshly-contracted Theo Walcott finished excellently from a wonderful pass from Santi Cazorla
