MesutOzil created 10 chances but 0 goals were scored

MesutOzil has undoubtedly been one of the main figures of Arsenal in this season. The German has provided his teammates with 16 assists which is more than anyone else in the entire Premier League and the German was once again in sublime form during Arsenal’s goal-less draw against Southampton.

Arsenal hosted Southampton at the Emirates Stadium and even though Ozil created 10 goal-scoring chances, it wasn’t enough for his teammates to capitalize as the match finalized without any goals for either side.

Southampton’s Fraser Forster was on fire in this match as the English goal-keeper made a number of brilliant saves which kept his team from falling behind in the scoreboard but these are the kind of matches that Arsenal have to win if they want to continue charging for the top spot of the Premier League. Jack Wilshere’s future is edged towards Manchester City and Arsenal

One of the top summer targets of Manchester City is Paul Pogba of Juventus but trying to sign the French player is very difficult as he is also being targeted by a number of top European clubs including: Manchester United, Chelsea, PSG, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Taking into consideration just how complicated it will be to sign Paul Pogba, Manchester City are already searching for a backup option and one of these backup’s is Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere.

Manchester City are believed to be preparing an offer of around €40 million in order to tempt Arsenal in selling Wilshere but the English player might be out of the reach of Manchester City as well because Arsene Wenger is not interested in releasing one of his most promising young figures.

The French manager Arsene Wenger is viewing Jack Wilshere as the future of Arsenal’s central midfield and will attempt to secure his services for as long as possible. Even at his young age, Wilshere is already one of the candidates of becoming the captain of Arsenal in the near future.

Jack Wilshere currently has a contract with Arsenal which extends until 2018 and he is earning €60,0000 but a pay raise is expecting to be given to him within the next few weeks as a way to motivate Wilshere to keep on playing at the Emirates Stadium and not have any interest of joining any other clubs despite how tempting their offers might be. Mame Biram Diouf says that he is extremely grateful to manager

Stoke City striker Mame Biram Diouf says that he is extremely grateful to manager Mark Hughes for giving him the opportunity to impress at the Premier League club.

After struggling with the likes of Manchester United and Blackburn in his two years in English football, it appeared to be certain that Diouf would be written off as a massive flop. This, however, has changed after just 12 months at the Britannia stadium. Stoke took the gamble on the former Hannover 96 player and it has paid off with a return of 13 goals in all competitions last season.

Some of his goals were also extremely important and the Senegalese striker looks set to remain as a key part of the club’s play going into the new campaign. Since he is just 27 years of age, he can prove to be the perfect replacement for Peter Crouch. The former Liverpool and Tottenham forward is coming to the end of his career. Stoke have already been looking at a couple of forwards in order to act as the backup for Diouf. The African forward did not have a happy time in German football too after scoring just eight goals for Hannover. Continue reading Mame Biram Diouf says that he is extremely grateful to manager

Arsenal have reached yet another consecutive FA Cup final

Arsenal have reached yet another consecutive FA Cup final and they are once again favourites to lift the trophy as they will be facing an Aston Villa team that has just avoid relegation.

After being heavily criticised for his performances during the summer, Mesut Ozil have been showing significantly better form in the second half of the season. His presence in the team has helped Arsenal win 16 out of the last 20 matches in all competitions. This run has almost put them on the verge of a top two finish for the first time in more than a decade.

More importantly, they have the chance to end the season with a piece of silverware to show for their efforts. Ozil says that the possibility of playing for a second consecutive season at the new Wembley is something that gives the team a lot of pride and joy. Villa may have knocked out Liverpool in the semifinals, but Arsenal remain confident that they can win the title. Ozil has contributed five goals and nine assists in the 28 matches this season. Even though more was expected when he signed for £ 42 million from Real Madrid, this is a considerable improvement over the last season. Mesut Ozil may look to demand a transfer away from Arsenal

After being heavily criticised towards the end of last season, it was feared that Mesut Ozil may look to demand a transfer away from Arsenal.

He did not appear well-suited to the rigours of English football where players now not even get to enjoy a winter break. In the last few months, though, there have been signs that Ozil may start to recapture his old form. This was finally evident in the 4-1 thrashing of Liverpool during the weekend when the German midfielder scored one of the goals from a freekick. After the match, he stated that he is starting to enjoy English football where games come thick and fast.

Last season, Ozil was visibly tired in the second half and this forced manager Arsene Wenger to rest him even from high-profile matches in the Champions League. After almost 2 years in the Premier League, it appears that the 27-year-old is starting to get used to a regular run of matches without rest. Signed from Real Madrid for £42.5 million, Ozil is the club’s record signing and it was expected that the team would be built around him. The German is showing finally that he is capable of being the main man in a team unlike at Real Madrid. Continue reading Mesut Ozil may look to demand a transfer away from Arsenal

Mesut Ozil needs tp deliver in Big Matches

Former Arsenal forward Charlie Nicolas says that Mesut Ozil needs to deliver in the big matches more often than not.

The German international appeared to be a major hit in his first months that Arsenal after making a £ 40 million move from Real Madrid. Since then, he has suffered from a huge dip in form and several injuries. It has taken the shine away from his game and Ozil still continues to search for his best form. Manager Arsene Wenger expected the German international to get back to his best this season, but it is yet to happen so far.

Alexis Sanchez has been stealing the limelight ahead ofOzil. The Chilean winger has been going through a similar patch of form as experienced by Ozil immediately upon his arrival. While the German has scored four goals and created four more in 14 appearances this campaign, Sanchez is closing in on the 20 goal mark for the season. In addition to this, he also has created eight more goals for his teammates. Former Arsenal forward Nicolas, though, believes that both players have not performed well in the big matches. His criticism comes after Ozil scored in the recent North London derby only to see Arsenal suffer a 2-1 defeat. Continue reading Mesut Ozil needs tp deliver in Big Matches

Liverpool disappointed again the League

Liverpool were once again disappointing in the league after they threw away a two-goal lead to only manage a 2-2 draw with Leicester City.

Nigel Pearson’s team came to Anfield bottom of the league table, but they put in a spirited performance that earned them a point. It could have been much more had it not been for some poor refereeing decisions, which handed Liverpool two penalties in the 90 minutes.

Steven Gerrard converted both penalties with amazing ease, but Leicester came back at them without grievances over the poor decisions.

Amazingly, Liverpool conceded both goals in the space of two minutes with David Nugent starting the comeback in the 58th minute. Continue reading Liverpool disappointed again the League

OZIL BOOSTS ARSENAL

Arsene Wenger says that Arsenal could be boosted by the return of Mesut Ozil much earlier than expected. The German midfielder was diagnosed with a long-term injury that could have potentially kept him until the middle of January. He has missed the last couple of matches. Ozil is one of the several players on the sidelines for the Gunners, but Arsenal’s form has improved in the last few matches. He has not played since the 2-0 defeat against Chelsea, but Arsenal have been unbeaten in the last four. This includes two back-to-back victories in the Premier League, although they were only against Sunderland and Burnley.

The injury crisis slowly appears to be clearing for the North London team. They recently welcomed Theo Walcott back into action for the first time this campaign. The England international has spent several months on the sidelines after suffering a major knee injury at the end of last campaign. Ironically, Arsenal failed to identify the injury for Ozil and it was only brought to the attention by the German football Association when he was involved in the international duty. Back then, his recovery time was put at 12 weeks but Wenger says that Ozil could be back in around half that time.

“He is out for a while now, I think at least six weeks. I didn’t even know about it. At half-time, just before we went out, the physio told me he had a little pain in his knee, but it’s not bad and he wanted to go on. I told him ‘if you don’t feel well tell me and I will take you off straight away’, but he never did and I left him on because we needed to find a goal,” said Wenger about Ozil’s injury and the club’s failure to recognise this problem.

What’s going wrong with Liverpool?

After coming so close to winning the Premier League last season, you could be forgiven for wondering just what has happened to Liverpool this year. With the campaign nearing its halfway point, Brendan Rodgers’ men currently find themselves all-but-out of the title race as well as facing the prospect of an early exit from the Champions League.

While the loss of Luis Suarez was always going to have a negative impact on Liverpool’s chances this season, Liverpool fans probably won’t have expected their team to look so far off the pace at this stage of the year. Continue reading What’s going wrong with Liverpool?

Is Cabaye heading back to England?

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Yohan Cabaye has admitted he could be tempted back to the Premier League after struggling to nail down a starting spot with the French champions. Cabaye returned to Ligue 1 in January after PSG agreed a reported £10million deal to sign the midfielder from Newcastle.

The 28-year old’s time in the French capital hasn’t gone exactly to plan, however, and the former Lille star has now admitted he is far from happy with his current situation and missing playing in England. Continue reading Is Cabaye heading back to England?
