SANCHO SUBBED ON FOR DRAMATIC DRAW

Summer signing Jadon Sancho was a second half substitute as his Manchester United side claimed a dramatic draw against Italian Serie A side Atalanta in the Champions League. Manchester United hit the equaliser in stoppage time to earn a point and move closer to a place in the knockout stage. Star man Cristiano Ronaldo was the recipient of the late goal that secured a point for Manchester United in their Group F clash with Atalanta. As a matter of fact, Ronaldo scored twice to take his goal tally to eight goals in eleven (11) games in all competitions.

Manchester United tried to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga for over a year and they were unsuccessful until this summer when a deal was reached for around £79m. Jadon Sancho has been largely anonymous since his transfer and he’s yet to score or assist a goal in 12 appearances though it must be pointed out that a lot of the games were played as a second half substitute.

For the Atalanta game in the Champions League on Tuesday night, Jadon Sancho came on for Scotland international Scott McTominay who was already working the tight rope with a yellow card. Manchester United trailed 2-1 to Atalantawhen Sanchoentered into the game with three minutes left.

Jadon Sancho had made a total of 12 appearances for the Red Devils this season on the back of his transfer from German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund. The England national team player has featured seven times for the Red Devils in the Premier League, four times in the Champions League and once in the Carabao Cup. Despite his struggles for Manchester United this season, Sancho has remained in the Three Lions of England setup under manager Gareth Southgateuntil this month when he was left out ahead of the final two World Cup qualifiers.
