Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho was left out of the starting XI for the disappointing 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier between England and Hungary in Group I as far as the UEFA section is concerned.
Jadon Sancho was left on the bench despite the fact that he played well in the defeat of Andorra on Saturday. The new Manchester United player provided two assists as England thumped Andorra 5-0 when the two nations met in their World Cup qualifying matchup. Jack Grealish was the man who was subbed on for Jadon Sancho around the 72-minute mark of the away game at Andorra for the Three Lions of England. Manchester City star Grealish came off the bench to score the fifth and final goal of the game.
Grealish had not scored for his country at senior level until the game against Andorra. Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell had earlier scored his first international goal to give the Three Lions the lead in the first half. Arsenal star Bukayo Saka then added a second goal for England off the assist from Phil Foden five minutes before the interval.
Tammy Abraham and James Ward-Prowse (penalty) scored the third and fourth goal for England before the final strike from Grealish wrapped up the emphatic 5-0 victory for the Three Lions at the expense of their hosts.
In their next World Cup qualifying game in Group I, Jadon Sancho was on the bench throughout the game as England and Hungary played out a score draw. The Hungarians took a shock lead from the penalty spot after the midway point of the first half after Manchester United defender Luke Shaw was penalised for a foul in the England box. Freiburg star Daniel Salloi scored the spot kick on 24 minutes but the advantage didn’t last long thanks to Manchester City centre back John Stones. The goal from Stones eight minutes from the half-time interval eventually earned a point for the Three Lions via a 1-1 draw.
