Barcelona might be interested in signing Mesut Ozil in the summer with the Spanish club preparing a player and money deal. There is a special clause in Ozil contract that specifies that Real Madrid has the first refusal in case he is sold to a rival Spanish club. So as to circumvent this clause, Barcelona will try to offer players in exchange of Ozil.
The three players that will be offered to Arsenal are ArdaTuran, Sandro Ramirez and Munir El Haddadi and in fairness will not be a big upgrade on players Arsenal currently has. If ever, Ozil is going to be sold it is likely that Wenger will be interested in a transfer fee above the £42.5million that Arsenal paid to Real Madrid in 2013.
Mesut Ozil has made 110 appearances so far for the Gunners and has scored 19 goals. However, Ozil should not be judged by the number of goals he scored but rather on the number of assists, and chances created. And it is this creativity that Barcelona will want to bring to the Nou Camp. And with players such as Messi, Suarez and Neymar up front, a team consisting of Ozil behind these forwards can be difficult to stop.
There have also been reports in the media that Mesut Ozil might leave Arsenal if Wenger stayed as manager. However, Ozil was quick to deny these rumors and insisted that the reason he signed for Arsenal was because of Wenger himself.
Given the pressure that is on Arsene Wenger to bring titles back to Arsenal, it is hard to imagine that he will sell a player of Ozil’s quality. Ozil is the leading player in the Premier League when it comes to assists, and it will not be easy to replace such a creative player.
